Enniskillen Castle

Connection and Division

'Connection & Division' is a new partnership project involving Fermanagh County Museum Service, Derry Heritage & Museum Service and the Inniskillings Museum. 'Connection and Division' is one of two successful Northern Ireland applicants, and received an award of £100,000 through the Heritage Lottery Fund's 'Collecting Cultures' scheme.

'Connection and Division' will collect materials relating to the period from 1910-1930 and explore the impact of the border on the local communities. Working together, the museums will purchase photographs, paintings, documents, costume and film. The project will link the people, places and objects to historical events including the move towards Home Rule, World War 1, the Easter Rising, Partition and the Civil War. Personal stories and experiences of every day life will also be explored and incorporated into the project.

Public involvement and enjoyment of the collections will be increased through a series of learning and outreach activities which include an online blog and the production of interactive maps and educational packs.
