| Description: |
Enniskillen’s two regiments, the Inniskilling Fusiliers and the Dragoon Guards, were both in the British Expeditionary Force sent to France in 1939. They were subsequently evacuated from the harbour at Dunkirk. The exhibition will tell their story and that of the two Irish infantry regiments in the campaign, the Ulster Rifles and the Irish Fusiliers.
The exhibition will examine the reasons for the overwhelming German victory that led to the fall of France and the extraordinary team work of the British Army, Navy and Air Force in the successful evacuation from Dunkirk.
