You may be trying to uncover your genealogy but you can be assured that your family tree will eventually lead you home to Fermanagh in Ireland.
This is the ancestral home of the Mag Uidhir clan now spelt phonetically in the English language in a variety of ways such as Maguire, McGuire, Macguire and McGwire. The Maguires ruled Fermanagh from the late 1200s until the fall of Gaelic Ulster in the early 1600s.
Originally the stronghold of the Maguires was at Lisnaskea but later they ruled from Enniskillen Castle.
