| Description: |
This art exhibition, in conjunction with Headhunters Railway Museum, will take visitors on a nostalgic journey back to the golden age of railway travel and bring to life a period when colour photography was in its infancy and art as a medium of communication is our only way of taking a glimpse into the past.
It showcases several distinguished artists who have immortalised classic Irish railway scenes, which capture the romance of steam travel, when trains transported everything from passengers, livestock and racing pigeons to letters, newspapers and our fresh bread delivered daily.
Painting shown below is by Norman Whitla entitled 'The Return Bundoran Express Passing Through Enniskillen Non-Stop on its Way Back to Dublin'. Image copyright of Norman Whitla.
