| Description |
|
Monea Castle, built in 1618 for Malcolm Hamilton, a Scottish planter. An impressive building with distinctive Scottish-style corbelling, it has a bawn with flanker towers, one of which served as a dove-cote. In 1641, Irish Insurgents seized the castle but the Crown forces subsequently recaptured it.
