Activity Day 2 - Gaelic & Plantation Trail.
Letter written by one of school children from Enniskillen Integrated Primary School. The letter reads - 'Today we met to go around the gaelic and plantation castles around Fermanagh. First we went to Enniskillen Castle. It had, for defences, a moat and thick walls. Then we went to Monea, the best defended castle. The Hamiltons lived there and the defences were murder holes, a steep bank and a sideways door. Last (but not least!) we went to Tully Castle. We first had our lunch and then went into the castle. This was a seventeenth century castle that Rory Maguire burnt down. This castle had no good defences.' |
