Title When the Yanks came home.

Description Well if there was Yankees comin' home or anything like that they caused a great storm. If the Yankees came home there'd surely be a dance in a neighbours house. Oh we thought they had everything, y'know they came home with a big trunk. That time they came home by ship and maybe they would have been ten years away. Say if it was a girl, she might have spent ten years in America and she maybe went at seventeen, usually the people went at seventeen. Now for instance, my age, when I was seventeen I wouldn't have got to America because the Wall Street Crash had came. In the thirties our country was full of young people because they couldn't get, they couldn't have got to America. But if the Yankees were comin' home it was different. There was, there was powerful excitement all this Yankees and Maguires. There'd be a dance that night you know and all this. And maybe, very likely the Yankee would have brought a gramophone over from America and records and so on. Everything the Yankees would bring would be new to the area.
