Housing Conditions. |

| Description |
We were lodged, y'see, in Strand Street, in number, in number six, or was it number eight? It was just at the corner and Mary Street was there and there was a tap. That's the only water we had; we used to go out to the tap and then if it'd be frosted up, we'd be out with a big lump of lit paper, y'know, trying to thaw it. There was eight rooms and we had so many lodgers upstairs. But when the old man died we got the down, the down part, y'know the downstairs part for ourselves.
