| Description |
Enniskillen received its charter in 1612 and 1613 and from that time it grew steadily under the leadership of its founder William Cole (1575 - 1653). Cole brought over British settlers with skills to build houses and all the public buildings needed for the Borough. The town escaped damage during the Williamite Wars of 1689 and 1690 but a disastrous fire in 1695 detroyed most of its houses.
