Explore Enniskillen Castle
Today, the historic Enniskillen Castle Complex houses a new Visitor Centre in addition to two Museums, Fermanagh County Museum and the Inniskillings Museum (Enniskillen Castle Museums), and a flagship open air events space.
Explore Fermanagh’s unique stories within the picturesque setting of Enniskillen Castle beside the River Erne, situated in Ireland’s only island town, at the gateway to the Fermanagh Lakelands, part of the Cuilcagh Lakelands Global Geopark.
Discover diverse histories within the castle walls from Medieval Stronghold, Plantation Castle, Garrison Fort and Military Barracks, up to the present day, with the opening of the new Visitor Centre in 2016.
In 2016, the Enniskillen Castle Complex was transformed as part of a 3.5 million Masterplan led by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. Refurbishing the historic spaces and building a new state-of-the-art Visitor Centre was made possible with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The European Regional Development Fund under the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland and administered by Tourism Northern Ireland. Additional funding was provided by DfC Historic Environment Division and the Friends of Fermanagh County Museum.
